As a new European Commission prepares to take office, RPE had the pleasure to invite policy-makers and stakeholders to a discussion with Barry Lynn, the executive director of Open Markets Institute, Thomas Pellerin-Carlin MEP and Matthias Eckl MEP to debate the tensions between industrial policy and competition policy.

We discussed ways of keeping a transatrlantic discussion on regulation open. This might need to rely on informal exchanges awaiting clarity on the makeup of the incoming US administration. Market power of large tech companies are a materialised threat to democracy begging for a frank conversation on the best policy response.
